World Health Day 2020- WHO Celebrates Nurses And Midwives

Every 7th of April, the World Health Organization (WHO) observes World Health Day.

 

This year, WHO is appreciates the contributions of doctors, nurses and other health workers all over the world.

 

Now at a time when the whole world is facing a health crisis as we fight the coronavirus pandemic, healthcare professionals are the front-line soldiers in this war.

 

Furthermore, the theme of World Health Day 2020 is “Support nurses and midwives” to generate attention towards their contribution during the COVID-19 outbreak.

 

Dr.Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus Director-General of the WHO took to Twitter to reinstate the commitment of the health agency to making sure Nurses and Midwives work under favourable conditions all over the world.

“We are committed to working with all countries to ensure that nurses & midwives receive the training they need
the recognition they deserve decent conditions & salaries for their work”. He tweeted.

The WHO began observing the World Health Day on 7th April in 1950. The need for a World Health Day was discussed during the First Health Assembly in 1948.

 

Now, every World Health Day focuses on a certain key area in the healthcare system and aims to develop it.
