Microsoft Releases Software Update That Fixes Windows 11 Expired Certificate

Some features in Windows 11 hasn’t been working due to an expired certificate, Microsoft has released a software update to fix this. Applications like the touch keyboard, snipping tool was not working properly on Windows 11.

The Tech company speedily tested these issues with its beta and Release Preview testers a day before it sent out the fix to all Windows 11 public users. According to Microsoft, this was as a result of an expired October 31, 2021 certificate.

Microsoft’s fix for all Windows 11 users is known as KB5008295, it fixes the emoji panel, Start menu and setting apps from their unresponsiveness. It’s very unusual for the Redmond based company to release a fix the next day after testing. This shows how critical these features were essential to the new operating system.

Microsoft has been rolling out its newest operating system Windows 11 to personal computers. My Windows 11 upgrade prompt came recently, but couldn’t upgrade with my personal computer as a result of old processors.

The company says that “The availability of Windows 11 has been increased and we are leveraging our latest generation machine learning model to offer the upgrade to an expanded set of eligible devices,”

Moving forward the company says “We will continue to train our machine learning model throughout the phased rollout to deliver a smooth upgrade experience.”
