Microsoft has confirmed the existence of the Xbox Series S shortly after the console leaked online. The company describes the Series S as offering “next-gen performance in the smallest Xbox ever”  in a Tweet.

Microsoft says the console will retail as previously leaked for $299 and will cost £249.99 in the UK. Microsoft also released a quite better image of the Xbox Series S than the one that appeared in the leak.

The image shows off its thin size and confirms the lack of a disc drive. The Series S is pictured standing upright, however, looking at the orientation of the Xbox logo the console could be more commonly used in a traditionally horizontal layout.

Windows Central reports that both next-gen consoles, the Series X and Series S, will launch on 10th November 2020. The price of the previously announced Xbox Series X is put at  $499.

The Series S is Microsoft’s plan to deliver next-gen games in a smaller, cheaper package with less GPU power and lower resolution output than the high-end Series X.

Microsoft did not reveal any other information but says it will share more details ‘soon’. It is expected that more information will be released as we get closer to a launch date.
