House of the Dragon Season 2 is in the works

HBO has green-lit House of the Dragon season 2, according to a statement by the company’s executive vice president of programming Francesca Orsi.

It looks like the Thrones Universe may be finally happening (author George R.R. Martin has expressed desire to build a cinematic universe like the MCU).

First, for fans, they can now breath in relief and feel free to fall in love with the series. It has been a dicey situation as HBO’s parent company, WarnerMedia, are being absorbed by Warner Bros. Discovery.

With different projects getting axed, there was no assurance that House of the Dragon would not go the same way too. However, given its record-setting premiere, it would have been surprising if the show didn’t get as much opportunity as it could to be great.

“Our phenomenal cast and crew undertook a massive challenge and exceeded all expectations, delivering a show that has already established itself as must-see-TV,” Orsi had said during the announcement. “A huge thank you to George, Ryan, and Miguel for leading us on this journey. We couldn’t be more excited to continue bringing to life the epic saga of House Targaryen with season two.”

We had expressed doubt over HBO Max’s future after the Game of Thrones prequel’s first season finished. However, it seems those days have been postponed for another time.

The House of the Dragon series is not the only popular project that survived the axe at the company, the new owners also could not refuse the appeal of Robert Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne in The Batman 2.
