Google working on Android apps that can work on all devices, including iPhones

Google is working on a cross-device software development kit (SDK) that allows Android apps work on all devices. The goal is to encourage developers make apps that any Android device can use instead of making individual ones.

The SDK contains the tools necessary for developers to make such apps, according to Google. Imagine apps that work well on all Android devices? And, the search company says that it is working on a set of tools that make it possible to design apps that work universally on every device; we are talking tablets, TVs, cars, and even non-Android phones like iPhones.

For now, it is just the Android SDK that us available and it offers three main features: discover nearby devices, connect devices and host app experiences across more than one device.

It leverages device connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ultra-wideband to connect devices. One of the practical ways that the cross-device software development kit could come in handy is described as follows:

In a situation where you are reading an article on your smartphone, you can simply continue where you stopped on your ta let when you sit at your desk. Also, when a group is trying too order food, instead of passing the device around, one person can just share the app menu and let everyone else order.

If you have been following Android development news, you may notice that this tool sounds like an improved version of the Nearby Share feature which allows Android devices send files to other Android devices or a Chrome OS device.
