From China To The World: Oppo Announces The International Release Of Its Smartwatches

Chinese tech brand, Oppo launched its first smartwatch in China in early 2020. Now Oppo plans to launch the watch globally and it is announcing its international release plans for the device.

 

The device originally ran on a customised version of Android, however, the international model of the Oppo Watch will ship with Google’s Wear OS.

 

The watch is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset and also comes with an Ambiq Micro Apollo3 co-processor, that will help to extend its lifespan and longevity. The watch also comes with 1GB RAM and an 8GB internal storage size.

Oppo describes the device as the world’s first smartwatch with a dual-curved display. This simply refers to the OLED panel curving on the edges which is quite similar to how it makes many of its mobile phones.

The Oppo Watch is available in 46mm and 41mm size options with an optional LTE connectivity in the larger model.  The 41mm model includes a 1.6-inch AMOLED display with a 320×360 pixel resolution at 301ppi.

 

It comes with a 300mAh, which could 24 hours under “normal” usage but is capable of lasting up to 14 days when the power saving mode is activated. The device has a 430mAh battery that charges in 75 minutes and gets half full in just 15 minutes.

 

The 46mm size includes a 1.9-inch AMOLED display with a 402×476 pixel resolution at 326ppi and a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits. The battery is in this model is larger at 430mAh.

 

Oppo says the smartwatch will be available in select markets according to The Verge. The brand has however not communicated the specifics of that arrangement.

 

The Verge also reports that the 46mm 41mm Oppo watch will cost $484 and $300 respectively in the UK. Meanwhile, In India, the price will be $267 and $200 for the 46mm and the 41mm respectively.
