Elon Musk Could Make Smartphone To Rival iPhone And Android

Elon Musk has hinted at the possibility of making an alternative smartphone to rival Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android if they kick Twitter from their app store.

The situation between the new Twitter and mainstream application stores owners appear to be going from bad to worse. Recall that we first got hint of this after a top Apple executive, who is in charge of the company’s App Store, deleted his Twitter page over Donald Trump’s return to the platform.

At the time, there were rumours circulating that Apple could remove Twitter from its App Store for violating its rules, likely ones about content moderation. However, Apple never came out openly to address the issue.

Despite that, American conservative political commentator Elizabeth Wheeler believes that there is a possibility of this happening. She asked, “If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?”

In reply, Musk said that he hoped the situation does not deteriorate to that, but if it does, he would make an alternative phone.

Of course, this is not the first time that an alternative smartphone to rival iPhone and Android has been linked to Elon Musk. About a year ago, there were rumours that his car company, Tesla, was making a smartphone called Model Pi. At the time, the device was teased to be hugely tilted towards favouring every company that Musk controls. It was said to be coming with features for Tesla and Neuralink as well as connectivity to Starlink satellites and support for solar charging.

Since the rumoured Tesla Model Pi smartphone, we’ve heard nothing more. Once again, the rumours appear to have been true and we await further details from the man himself.
