Hollywood actor Idris Elba has announced to his fans that he tested positive for Coronavirus, making him the most famous black man yet to have contacted the virus.
In the announcement video, he intimated the public that although he had no symptoms, he took a test alongside his wife Sabrina and while he tested positive, she’s free of the virus.
The actor enjoined his fans to take healthy precautions and practice hand washing. He also mentioned social distancing to help halt the spread of the killer virus.
He also promised that he will keep fans updated on how he is dealing with the infection.

This is coming a week after Chelsea footballer Callum Husdon-Odoi tested positive to the virus, but took to his Twitter on Friday 14h February to announce to his fans that he’s already recovered.
These stories among others shatter the myth-making rounds on social media that the immune system of blacks was too strong for the virus to breach its walls and once again confirms that black people can indeed contact and even, die of the virus in some reported cases.

Idris Elba will not be the first actor to have tested positive for Coronavirus. Last week, Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the virus.
The actor also took to his Twitter page at the time to announce the disturbing news. He had been among the first set of high-profile individuals in the entertainment industry to test positive for Corona Virus.
Tom Hanks had posted:
“Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too.
“To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus and were found to be positive. We’ll keep the world posted and updated,” he concluded.
