Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta has tested positive for coronavirus and their Premier League match against Brighton on Saturday has also been postponed.

 

Arteta, who did not attend Arsenal’s training on 12th March 2020, is in self-isolation in line with government health guidelines. As expected the first team along with coaching staff will do the same.

The Premier League announced it would hold an emergency meeting on 13th March 2020 concerning upcoming fixtures. Later, the sane Friday, they confirmed that the Premier League games had been postponed until 4th April 2020.

 

This decision comes after several fans had put pressure on the Football Association (FA). Chelsea’s full squad has also gone into self-isolation after winger Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive for coronavirus. The club released the announcement via a statement in the early hours of Friday.

Hudson-Odoi had displayed cold symptoms on Monday morning and has stayed away from the club since then. His test result on return on Thursday night made him the first Premier League player to contract the virus.

 

Later today he tweeted that he is doing well and hopes to see his fans soon.

Furthermore, Wife of Canadian Prime Minister Sophie Grégoire Trudeau has tested positive for the new coronavirus. A recent statement revealed that Justin Trudeau was felling well but would also remain in isolation.

“The Prime Minister is in good health with no symptoms. As a precautionary measure and following the advice of doctors, he will be in isolation for a planned period of 14 days,” the statement confirmed.

 

His office said the doctor’s advice to the prime minister is to continue daily activities while self-monitoring.
