See Google Photos Redesigned Logo Among Its Other New Features

Google just announced a new logo for its Photos app on Android smartphones and also disclosed a bunch of other new features. Learn how this new design will improve the app’s productivity along with its improved features.

Five years on from its original release, Google finally redesigned its Google Photos. The app currently has over one billion users every month. Google updated the new app on 18th June 2020, adding a new logo and more interesting features.

Explaining the rationale behind the recent redesign, David Lieb who is the Product Director, Google Photos writes:

“We’re launching a redesigned Google Photos, focused on your memories, to help you find and relive your most treasured moments.”

The new Google Photos will have a three-tab structure for Photos, Search, and Library. This will allow users to see larger thumbnails, auto-playing videos, and less white space between photos when they are on the main tab.

Meanwhile, the search feature will now come with a front and center feature for quick access. Additionally, it comes with an interactive map view of your photos and videos. Meaning, you can check photos you have taken in different locations from this map view.

This makes it easier for you to explore photos of your travels and gives you the option of pinching and zooming on the map as well. So, if you have had difficulty finding photos you took in a particular spot, you can find it from the map view in the new Google Photos.

The new Google Photos Library gives more than the usual Albums, Favorites, Trash, Archive and more options. Lieb says that users in the US, EU and Canada can see a Print Store option. This directs them to stores where they can buy products featuring their photos.

An improved Memories feature allows you to see more than the regular monthly, weekly and daily memories. Now, you get random reminders of photos with your closest friends, relations, and even trip highlights. Some of these new memories can be as old as years or as recent as weeks.
