Samsung has announced a new Eco TV remote that charges from your router’s radio waves, during the CES 2021 event. How is this possible? The remote charges itself by “collecting routers radio waves and converting them to energy.” This product is an improvement over its solar Eco Remote for its 2021 TVs.
Interestingly, Samsung says this new Eco remote is chargeable with solar energy. There are other options of charging including USB-C and the normal triple A batteries.
Ultimately, Samsung plans to eliminate the use of batteries altogether. The company has experimented “harnessing the kinetic energy that’s created when the remote is shaken” and “using the vibrational energy that’s created when the microphone picks up sounds.”

This futuristic technology will probably ship in its upcoming TV remotes, while Samsung finetune its development for now. Elsewhere IBM and Samsung are partnering to release a new chip design that will offer longer battery life for phones up to a week. Both companies have found a way to stack transistors vertically on a chip.
Samsung believes that by switching to Solar powered remotes and using radio wave technology; it could prevent around 99 million batteries from discarding over 7 years. How well this new technology would hold up is not yet known, but we except a resounding review.
