Sony has ambitiously announced the world’s first QD-OLED 4K TV, coming to consumers later this year 2022. The company previously sourced panels from LG Display and fine-tuned them with its own processing.
QD-OLED is known as quantum dot organic light emitting diode, made from Samsung Display and is considered to be better than LG’s OLED X. This new TV from Sony the ‘Bravia XR A95K TV’ will be available in both 65 and 55-inches shipping with 4K resolution.
QD-OLED premises to be better than OLED panels, they combine the very best of OLEDs and quantum dot LED TVs. OLEDs have deeper blacks, and perfect contrast while quantum has more brightness and more vivid colour reproduction.
LG Electronics through its LG Display division is releasing its next-gen OLED X technology that will improve TV brightness and accuracy. These new TVs would also ship with slimmer bezels, competing aggressively with Samsung QLED TVs.
The OLED manufacturer says that this X technology would increase screen brightness by 30 percent. The TVs with the OLED X technology would be shipping from the second quarter of 2022.

LG Display a sister company to the Electronics division has unveiled four different OLED transparent concept Screens at CES 2022. These screens include the OLED shelf, Shopping Managing Showcase, Show Window and Smart Window.
OLED Panels are naturally more expensive than their LCD counterparts. One of the drawbacks of the OLED display is the lower brightness when compared to LCDs. LG OLED X would be improving on brightness while maintaining brilliant colour accuracy.
Although Sony will still source its OLED panels for its other TVs from LG, it now stands a chance to offer two different OLED offerings. This new QD-OLED 4K TV will be shipping later this year with loads of high expectations.
