Samsung, Apple And Huawei Lead Most Sold Smartphones Chart In Q2 2020

By the end of June 2020, signifying the Q2 (second quarter) of the year, Samsung maintains its place as the most sold smartphone in the world. Apple and Huawei also top the worldwide smartphone sales chart for Q2 2020 as well, see details here.

Following the lockdown guidelines that proceeded the pandemic, Samsung had struggled to match its January 2020 smartphone sales. Its sales had seen a dip worldwide but rose by the end of June 2020. This increment in Samsung’s global market share is likely a pointer to the effect of some countries lifting lockdown measures.

In what appears to be a reverse situation, Apple’s iPhone market shares further dropped by the end of June 2020. The company had attained one of its highest market shares in April 2020 amidst the pandemic. This was around the time it released the iPhone SE 2020. However, since then, it has lost more ground, dropping even lower than its share in February 2020 at the end of Q2 2020.

There has been little change in Huawei’s market share in the smartphones’ sales chart since the beginning of January 2020. It still manages to stay in the third position.

Xiaomi has seen an improved smartphone market sales share percentage by the end of Q2 2020. According to Stat Counter, the makers of MI, Redmi and other smartphone brands is currently the fourth best-seller worldwide. For a smartphone company that officially commenced operations in 2010, this is no small feat.

The fifth best-selling smartphone maker is Oppo. Since establishing itself as a high-end smartphone maker, Oppo has been steadily seeing increasing market shares. Popular names like Motorola, Lenovo, LG and Nokia have still not found a way to break into the top five most sold smartphones in the world.
