Oculus says that its latest VR gaming system, the Quest 2, is now available for preorder and it costs as low as $299. The announcement also had a gloomy part, people did not like that Facebook was involved.
In Tweet from its official account on 16th September 2020, the company said:
Finally! We can say it. This is #Quest2. All the good rumors are true. It’s our fastest and most immersive VR gaming system yet. The best part: it starts at $299. Pre-order now on https://t.co/mgAVcLrVfJ pic.twitter.com/2tdf07QSJ8

The Quest 2 will offer next-level hardware and redesigned controllers. Additionally, it will be PC VR compatible and come with an easy setup. Oculus calls it ‘a blazing-fast processor and next-generation graphics’.

Quest 2 runs on a new Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform and has 6GB RAM. It has 50 per cent more pixels to give seamless graphics and a resolution of 1832 x 1920 per eye. You can see more details of the Oculus Quest 2 here.
However, besides the new improvements and cool design, there is one new change that people are concerned about. “Quest 2 requires your Facebook account to log in,” the company says on the website.
This development does not sit well with many people. This is because many seem to have abandoned their Facebook profiles over the many privacy concerns, and lately, content moderation issues. Here are some Tweets showing people’s disapproval:
I was really looking forward to this and would have pre-ordered TODAY had it not been for the Facebook requirement. Not a chance in hell I’m ever creating a FB profile again. Guess I’ll spend my cash elsewhere.
