Phoenix had managed the disease for over four years. In 2017, friends of the Rhythm FM OAP had solicited for funds for her to help her undergo surgery and get back on her feet. Media personality Bizzle Okoya shared on his Instagram explaining the condition of Phoenix at the time.

Bizzle captioned the post:

Pheonix Osinuga @phoenixicus aka PHOENIX was diagnosed a year ago with Fibromyalgia. It’s an auto-immune disorder which causes the body to attack itself and manifests in over 200 symptoms.

“While the condition has NO CURE, there are treatments and therapies that can help manage the symptoms and enable her live a relatively normal life”
