Former Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi has died at age 70 after a short battle with the novel Coronavirus. Ajimobi was governor from 2011 to 2019.
He was hospitalised at First Cardiologist and Cardiovascular Consultants Hospital, Lagos on 2nd 2020. Ajimobi went into a coma and was placed on life support last Friday.
The former Governor died of an underlying health condition that worsened after he contracted Coronavirus.
Reports reveal that he managed the illness at home before the situation worsened and he had to go to a hospital. He also opted for private treatment rather than a public facility after his condition worsened.

Close family sources who confirmed Abiola Ajimobi’s demise disclosed the Oyo state politician took his last breath around 4 pm.
The source further disclosed that Ajimobi had lung surgery and his condition wasn’t making progress because his kidneys had also failed.
It was gathered, that doctors treating the ex-governor informed his family that his situation had defied every medical intervention. Ajimobi lost his life to the virus that has also killed several prominent Nigerians including late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari who was also treated for the disease at First Cardiology Hospital until he died.
