Microsoft Teams Premium Launches With ChatGPT And Other OpenAI Tools

Summary: Microsoft Teams Premium, which includes the GPT-3.5 language model from OpenAI, has launched with a range of new tools aimed at making virtual meetings and webinars more productive. The premium tier will cost $7 per user per month for the first few months and $10 per user per month starting June 30th.

Microsoft Teams Premium launches with ChatGPT (or the large language model it is based on, GPT-3.5) and other tools from partner, OpenAI, that improves its usefulness for customers.

Some of the new tools include a recap feature that can create notes, tasks and highlights based on a meeting you just had or one that you missed. In addition, it can help you create chapters or sections so you can go to a relevant part of the meeting recordings.

On the Microsoft Teams recap page, you see the “Weekly Teams Review” meeting recap, including the meeting recording with different chapters, the speakers with individual speaker timeline markers, and on the right-hand side “AI Notes” which shows suggested notes and suggested tasks.

Also, its intelligence extends to helping users create branded meetings, customer meeting templates, watermarking, and more.

For the first few months, Microsoft Teams Premium will be $7 per month and will start costing $10 from June 30. The introductory price is likely to get early birds interested and testing the features to see its usefulness and give feedback for improvement.

Microsoft is hoping that the new premium tier appeals to corporate users who have been purchasing add-on software to make their meeting or webinars more productive.

“Today, many organizations not only pay for meeting solutions, but also purchase expensive add-on products for webinars, virtual appointments, meeting intelligence, and more. With Teams Premium, customers can get these advanced meeting capabilities and more for one low cost of USD10 per user per month,” it said in a blog announcement.

Besides meetings and virtual appointments, a big part of this premium launch is how useful it will be for hosting webinars. It offers features for customisation, registration waitlist, virtual green room, and more.

Two presenters are connecting in the virtual green room before the webinar begins and Q&A is enabled to engage with attendees.

This is not all, the company is taking some features that used to be free and putting them behind paywalls. Some of these are live translated captions, custom organization Together Mode scenes, and many of the virtual appointments features.

Microsoft Teams Premium is just one of the ways that the multinational corporation is taking advantage of its investments in OpenAI products. We could see them come to the Microsoft 365 suite of apps and even its Bing search engine.
