His most recent film, “Mokalik”, might be one of his best yet. And it’s finally available to watch on Netflix.

The film earned a lot of attention for casting acclaimed singer-songwriter, Simi in her first major acting role. While that bit of stunt casting was the initial draw, the film later ended up being one of the most wonderfully acted and thoughtfully written Nollywood films of the year.

Entirely in Yoruba, Kunle Afolayan’s “Mokalik” follows Ponmile, an 11-year-old boy whose parents send him to work at a mechanic workshop for a day. But something happens in the course of this apprenticeship. He develops a crush on Simi’s characters — daughter of one of the bukka owners in the film.
