A lot of times we take actions without realising how terrible they are and in retrospect wish we could undo them. If your mistake was that you deleted Gmail contacts, then its not so terrible as we’ll show you how you can retrieve them.

First of all, for you to be able to retrieve the contact, you must be attempting to retrieve them within 30 days of deleting them. No matter how many contacts you add or delete, Gmail keeps a 30-day record of every contact in your address book. So whether you accidentally delete one or more or you did so in anger (maybe an ex), you can get them back in a few steps.

You can’t restore specific contacts, however, you can retrieve every deleted contact back to a specified date. More like going back in time; like it never happened.

How to retrieve deleted Gmail contacts

1. Open Google Contacts in your browser (not the app, the browser on mobile or pc will do).

2. Tap on the gear icon (settings) in the upper right corner.

3. Tap Undo changes.

4. Choose a timeframe. This will help you to restore contacts from 10 minutes to 30 days ago, and tap Undo.

5. Gmail will confirm your action with a notice that says, “Your contacts list will be restored back to how it was on [date you chose]. It may take some time for these changes to show up on your device.”

That’s all, “disaster” reversed.
