How To Make Hand Sanitizer Queries Steadily Declining On Google Trends

In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak around the world, people who sought to protect themselves and/or cash in on the chaos were searching for ‘How To Make Hand Sanitizer’ on Google. Nearly two months later, the searches have significantly reduced.

Google remains one of the most used search engine tools. In fact, Internet Live Stats claims that the company receives 40,000 search queries every second and about 3.5 billion search requests per day.

Thus, with nearly half of the world’s population and a larger percentage of the 4.57 billion internet users using it, Google searches really gives insight into what people are looking for.

Thus, the query on how to make hand sanitizer began to rise worldwide by the end of 2019. The graph shows that before that time, which coincides with the coronavirus outbreak, the search was largely dormant.

But, not quite long after it surged to an unprecedented height. It reached its highest peak ever in the week of 8th to 14th March 2020. However, since then, the searches have reduced showing first, a curved path before a sharper decline.

To get a better view of how the interest in making hand sanitizers had reduced. Look at Nigeria’s search trend of the topic below.

While the country’s search peaked at almost two weeks later than the world’s own, its decline has been sharper. There are many translations of the data.

The rise in queries is likely because of the hike in price and scarcity of hand sanitisers when the pandemic had begun entering new countries and regions. But the decline in the graph may be linked to the fact that there was soon an abundance of the commodity in markets.

Also, it is possible that since the first wave of panic has subsided, people have taken to being more cautious; social distancing. and staying at home. Thus, the need to sanitise their hands more regularly has reduced.

Whatever the reason, it is important to note that the end of the linear graph shows that Nigerians are once again increasingly searching for ‘How To Make Hand Sanitizer’ on Google.
