Comparing the search statistics of football-related topics to health searches on Google in recent months shows that people have been more focused on the latter. Likely, the coronavirus pandemic has played an important role in this.
According to a graph comparing how people were searching for both keywords, the two started seeing almost the same amount of traffic in the middle of January 2020.
This usually only ever happens when the football season is over and an example is last year around May, June, and July. The graph below shows this by the far left.
Also, as it clearly shows, as soon as the football season was about to start, the search activity went up again and health searches remained normal with slight changes.

However, with the coronavirus becoming popular, more people began to take an interest in it. Then, searches for health-related topics began to see massive surges worldwide.
From the beginning of January up until May 2020, health searches on Google have been higher than it was a year ago.
The pandemic also meant that football activities would be suspended, and since then, there has been a sharper decline in people’s interest in the sport.
It is curious that the far right of the graph shows a rising number of football queries on Google again. Likely, this is caused by the news that some bodies are looking to resume footballing activities in certain regions.
For now, there is no concrete plan for how they plan to go forward other than that fans would not be allowed into the stadiums. Also, while health topics are dropping on Google trends, they are still high when compared to times when there had been no pandemic to worry about.
