An FCC listing has confirmed that the Samsung S Pen stylus will be compatible with its soon to come flagship Galaxy S21 Ultra phone. The confirmation comes in a test report for model number SMG998B as seen by Android Authority.

This clarifies statements from Samsung mobile president TM Roh, who said that some of the “most well-loved features” of the Galaxy Note will be coming to other Samsung devices in 2021. Samsung will reportedly announce the Galaxy S21 in January 2021, and the S Pen stylus makes it potentially more attractive.

The FCC listing describes an Equipment Under Test (EUT) device that can be used with an S Pen in both hover and click modes. “The EUT can also be used with a stylus device (S Pen). The EUT operates with the S Pen in two different inductive coupling modes of S Pen motion detection (Hover and Click) operating in the range of 0.53 –0.6MHz”.

The FCC listing also confirms wireless power transfer, most likely to charge the upcoming Galaxy Buds Pro earbuds. Wi-Fi 6E and Ultra-wideband (UWB) will feature the upcoming Galaxy S21 Ultra too.

Roh had also stated Samsung’s intentions to move with UWB in 2021. It plans to collaborate with partners, to do things like using UWB to locate objects open doors and personalize car experiences.

Samsung will definitely makes its intentions clearer during its January 2021 event. The event will set the tone for its year and give Samsung enthusiasts an idea of what to expect in the year.
