Signal is a privacy-focussed messaging app, widely used by security experts, privacy researchers, academics, and journalists around the world. The Signal protocol also uses the WhatsApp style end-to-end encryption, however, Signal is open-source, unlike WhatsApp.
WhatsApp’s new privacy policy has drawn concern from many quarters, especially as its selling point is that the app is secure and private. However, the new policy is set to change all that.
The privacy policy and terms of service have new sections that include Transactions and Payments Data and Location Information. The most notable change in the new privacy policy and terms of service is around how WhatsApp shares information with Facebook and its subsidiaries.
