Some days after its big announcement which went awry, Tesla’s Cybertruck gaining lots of interest. Tesla received 146,000 preorders for its futuristic electric pickup truck, Elon Musk tweeted on Saturday. Plus, customers making $100 refundable deposits for each preorder, a $14.6 million injection for Tesla’s bank.
Tesla offers three versions of the truck: single motor rear-wheel drive with 250 miles of range for $39,900; dual-motor all-wheel drive with 300 miles of range for $49,900; and tri-motor all-wheel drive with 500 miles of range for $69,900.
Musk said that 42 percent of preorders are dual-motor, 41 percent tri-motor, and 17 percent single motor.

“With no advertising & no paid endorsement,” Musk tweeted afterward.
Customers preordering the Cybertruck will need to wait a while before the futuristic pickup pulls into their driveways. Production on the single and dual-motor versions won’t begin until late 2021, while the tri-motor truck won’t roll off the assembly line until late 2022. Also, Tesla hasn’t indicated where its assembly plants will be.
Musk tweeted a follow-up tweet informing that preorders have reached 187,000 pre-orders.

This is amidst wall street’s skepticism which caused Tesla’s shares to tumble following it rather botched unveiling. Elon Musk lost over a quarter of a billion from his wealth.
New announcements Next Year
Questions have also been raised regarding the acceptance of the other futuristic designs with analysts arguing that although the designs are great, truck enthusiasts won’t immediately embrace the models.
Musk, further revealed that there will be no more announcements for the year, there will be some unexpected announcements next year.
