Dell has announced refreshes to its XPS 13 and XPS 13 2-in-1 line-up. The PCs are powered by Intel’s 11th Gen Tiger Lake processors and will be available in the US and Canada on 30th September 2020.
Dell also plans to make the PC available in more countries in the coming weeks. The XPS 13 is to sell at $999 and the 2-in-1 version at $1,249. Dell first teased the XPS was first teased on stage at Intel’s Tiger Lake launch earlier in September 2020.
Both models are getting a memory update. They will now run an LPDDR4x at 4,267MHz, instead of 3,733MHz. They’ll also support Thunderbolt 4 and Intel’s Xe integrated graphics.

The 2-in-1 is also coming in new colours. The 2in-1 previously came in platinum silver and arctic white. Dell describes the new colour options as “platinum silver with black carbon fiber composite palm rest” or “frost with arctic white woven glass fiber palm rests”.
According to Dell, the convertible display is 7 percent larger than those of previous generations. Plus the bezels on the top and bottom have gotten smaller.
Dell also announced a developer edition of the XPS 13. The XPS 13 developer edition is a Linux-based device and will come preloaded with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. Dell is also offering a free Ubuntu 20.04 LTS download to owners of the XPS 13 who want to switch their operating system regardless of if they have a developer edition.
Dell says the XPS 2020 line will arrive in sustainably sourced packaging. The company says this includes recycled, ocean-bound plastics.
