Beyonce made her debut with Disney when she starred as Nala in the recently released Lion King live-action remake. The Lion King: The Gift album that resulted from the collaboration has multiple tracks on the Billboard Hot 100 list.

The Lion King live-action remake has grossed over a billion dollars in the box office. Disney also came out on top with Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame surpassing Avatar in the box office.

It has been a good year for Disney and Beyonce, and it appears it is about to get better. Disney and Beyonce are in talks to work on another film. Following the success of Lion King, a source revealed we may see more of Queen Bey on the big screen.

Beyonce’s deal with Disney is one of the biggest it has done to date, and sources say they want to expand it by “giving her free rein to create her movies under the Disney umbrella”.

Beyonce has done the world a favour by lending her voice to the iconic role of Nala.

She also put out an incredible soundtrack album that she tagged ‘a love letter to Africa’. It has been amazing for so many people who have had limited representation on the big screen and at the forefront of the entertainment industry.

Black people, particularly women, have had very limited influence in the stories being told about them. A lot of stories featuring black people have been white-washed by powerful media influencers.

But Beyonce herself is a powerful media influencer, known for her commitment to delivering quality and her love for Afrocentrism. She will use her Disney platform to portray black women as the beautiful and powerful forces of change that they are.
