WhatsApp has announced new features coming to its messaging service in the nearest future. QR codes for adding contacts and new animated stickers are among the new features coming to Whatsapp Messenger.

The appearance of the features in beta versions of WhatsApp hints that the company will soon roll them out publicly. The QR codes feature means you can quickly add a new contact on WhatsApp Messenger just by scanning their code. This is much more straightforward than the process of adding contacts by entering their full phone number.

WhatsApp is also adding new animations to its sticker service. it’s introducing a new dark mode for its desktop and web clients as well. This follows its release of the dark mode for its mobile apps earlier in 2020.

At the same time, WhatsApp is tweaking its Group video calls to quickly maximise the video feed of participants of any call’s maximum of eight participants. It will launch a new video icon for group chats of up to eight people to allow users to quickly start a group video call.

Users can look forward to all of the new features in the coming weeks as they should be released publicly after they come out of beta testing.
