As the world is rallying and helping one another through the COVID-19 pandemic, TikTok, a platform that has peaked in popularity amid the virus outbreak is trying to help make the process easier. TikTok launched a new donation feature in its known as Donation Stickers.
The stickers enable creators to raise funds for charities through their videos and streams. TikTok says it chose charities that have been hit hard by the pandemic and helps the kinds of communities that use its service.
The charities include the CDC Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and the James Beard Foundation in the US. In the UK it chose the British Red Cross and Help Musicians.
TikTok says it will match the first $10 million donated worldwide until 27th May 2020. The new feature is separate from the app’s recent $375 million pledge to COVID-19 relief efforts.

How to make a donation
— Add the stickers.
— Tap the stickers and you’ll be taken to a donation page within the app.
— Enter your credit card details and the donation amount and you’d have made a donation.
TikTok will also add the hashtag #doubleyourimpact automatically to videos and live streams that use the stickers.
“During this time of uncertainty, our community has come together and given back in countless ways, from applauding health care workers to sharing inspirational messages on how to stay safe and happy at home to making original coronavirus songs to spread positive messages.
“We’ve been impressed and heartened by the selfless steps our community has taken to help each other, and now we’re excited to be able to give our users another way to make a positive impact,” TikTok U.S. Head of Product, Sean Kim said in an announcement about the stickers’ launch.
Despite the fact that the charities TikTok is focusing on are those that are vital to the COVID-19 pandemic, the app says its donation stickers will, however, remain even after this pandemic.
The stickers are available in France, Germany, Italy, the US, and the UK at the moment.
