Veteran Broadcaster And Actor Sadiq Daba Dies After Long Battle With Cancer

Veteran broadcaster and Nollywood actor Sadiq Daba is dead. Sadiq died on Wednesday 3rd March at a Lagos hospital.

Veteran Broadcaster And Actor Sadiq Daba Dies After Long Battle With Cancer

Sadiq Daba reportedly died of complications from cancer after a long battle with leukaemia and prostate cancer.

A report by PUNCH, reveals that Joe Odumakin, a close friend of Sadiq disclosed that the deceased wife confirmed the passing of the veteran actor.

In the last few years, Daba’s health was a source of concern for many and well-meaning Nigerians including billionaire Femi Otedola donating money for his treatment abroad.

One of Nigeria’s most loved television stars, the actor has had a long career in broadcasting with the Nigerian Television Authority.

Daba made waves on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in the 1980s. He featured in several TV series including “Cock Crow At Dawn”. He also featured in Kunle Afolayan’s films such as “October 1st”. The most recent is “Citation” released in October 2020.

He co-hosted the popular AM Express show on NTA with late Yinka Craig. Craig died of a similar illness in 2008.

In 2015, he won the “Best Actor” category at the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for his role as Inspector Waziri in “October 1”, a film released in 2014.
