Plain as day and clear as crystal, the Twitter board is not willing to sell the company to Elon Musk, and to prevent a hostile takeover, they announced a poison pill strategy.

It is one of the expected ways that the company could frustrate Musk’s plans, and without officially rejecting his buyout offer, they triggered the new shareholder clause.

The plan is very simple. Certain trustworthy shareholders get the right to buy more stock if an investor tries to snap up all the company’s shares.

No doubt, the Tesla boss or his close advisers expected the social media company’s board to go down this route and likely have something else lined up to counter it. Although, we will have to wait a bit longer to find out whatever it is.

With former CEO and co-founder of the company, Jack Dorsey, on the board of directors, they will be doing everything possible to prevent Musk’s takeover attempt.

Dorsey, who had been silent on the issue for some time, finally Tweeted that the problem with the whole board-Musk issue is that Twitter has always been for sale because it is a public company. Then, he added that a permanent ban on users such as Donald Trump and others was a failure on the part of Twitter.

Meanwhile, since his takeover announcement, the man of the moment, Musk, has not publicly made any move. This will be a long battle because the poison pill is just one of the numerous weapons that the Twitter board has.
