The owners of TikTok, ByteDance, may have bought a new Artificial Intelligence-generated music software, Jukedeck. The start-up company made a tool that lets users generate music automatically. The users can also adjust the length and tempo of the music via the app called Jukedeck.

The speculations that Tiktok may have acquired the AI startup started from LinkedIn. It was discovered that the CEO of the startup and some other employees have updated their employer to ByteDance on the app. Jukedeck’s CEO Ed Newton-Rex now has a new role as the director of ByteDance’s AI lab.

People also observed that Jukedeck’s website was down. Replacing the site was a message that reads, “We can’t tell you more just yet, but we’re looking forward to continuing to fuel creativity using musical AI!”

TikTok is pretty much a music-based social media app. Users move or demonstrate to licensed music on the app. A great example is Old Town Road by Lil Nas X which went viral thanks to the app. The app is made to sync music to short videos. However, using customisable tracks with a tool like Jukedeck will give users more control over how the music sounds.

Acquiring Jukedeck will also save TikTok some money. They obviously have had to pay huge sums for licenses to the songs used on the app. If some users who prefer to use original tracks make their own music, it will save the platform all that royalty money.
