The Nokia 3310 is known all over the world for its strength. This legendary phone produced in factories in Finland and Hungary was first released on 1st September 2000. It was at the time the pride of the Nokia Inc. and a replacement for the Nokia 3210.

It sold over 126 million units worldwide, according to Nokia, and is one of their most iconic devices. The phone still has worldwide acclaim and has enjoyed a cult-like status due to its durability.

Several variants of the 3310, including the Nokia 3315, 3320, 3330, 3350, 3360, 3390 and 3395 and a recent android have also seen the light of day.

The Nokia 3310 is known for its strength and toughness due to its casing and construction. This is one of the many reasons it gained acceptance. With adherents often exaggerating its strength in online communities.

Hundreds of videos also exist online of the phone going through increasingly-severe damage tests to test the phone’s strength. This also includes dropping it from a great height (although, sometimes while protecting it with makeshift cases made from various objects), heavy objects being dropped on it or being struck by vehicles or hammers, many times of which the phone remained intact.

The toughness is the actual inspiration behind HMD Global’s development of Nokia 800: tough with military standard complement.

Nokia 3310: The Unbreakable

Retrospectively, TechRepublic calls the Nokia 3310 “a big tough cockroach of a phone” and also praises its “legendary durability”.

Finland chose the phone as one of the first three “National Emojis” in November 2015. They refer to the emoji as “The Unbreakable”, as the phone identifies with toughness and durability.

HMD Global Oy did an unveiling of a more recent version of the 3310 at the 2017 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on 14th February 2017. HMD Global Oy is a Finnish manufacturer with rights to market phones under the Nokia brand.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about the phone is the snake game it comes with. Plus smashing your phone after hitting a brick wall or falling will also not damage it. Which is more than can be said for the fragile phones in use today.
