Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, the top four richest men in the world lost a combined $25 billion as tech stocks fell.
Besides being the top four richest men in the world, all the billionaires mentioned above are tech bosses. However, they all suffered losses this week as tech stocks witnessed a market sell-off on Thursday 3rd September 2020.
Earlier this week, we had reported that Elon Musk briefly took over from Zuckerberg as the third richest person in the world. It only lasted for a day before he dropped back to his fourth position. The recent massive loss, however, did not cause a reshuffle of positions at the top five.

According to CNBC’s data analyst Robert Frank, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk lost $25 billion from their net worth. The most hit were Amazon and Tesla stocks. The former saw its stocks close at 4.63% lower and this cost Bezos $9 billion.
Musk also lost $9 billion as Tesla’s stock dropped by 9.02%. On Mark Zuckerberg’s part, he lost $4 billion after Facebook’s stock slipped by 3.76%. Bill Gates is the least affected, as Microsoft’s stock dropped by 6.19% and he lost $3 billion of his net worth.
As of when this article was published, Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index says Jeff Bezos is worth $198 billion. Bill Gates is worth $124 billion, Mark Zuckerberg has a net worth of $110 billion and Elon Musk is $96.2 billion rich.
Apple Inc. stocks also dropped as well. There are speculations that tech stocks will bounce back in no time. But it had caused mass reactions on social media when people got the news.
