Sony has announced that it would have more PS5 consoles available from retailers this holiday season. The company calls the launch of its next-gen console its ‘biggest’ launch ever.

Sony has not released a figure for its total PS5 sales but it is understood that due to an unprecedented level of demand, several retailers and distributors are out of stock. The company took to Twitter to thank gamers and announce that it will make more consoles available.

“We want to thank gamers everywhere for making the PS5 launch our biggest console launch ever. Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year – please stay in touch with your local retailers,” PlayStation posted on Twitter.

Both PS5 and its competition, Xbox Series X / S, are in short supply. Microsoft also revealed that both new Xbox consoles would suffer from supply shortages until 2021 earlier this month. Both companies say the level of demand for the consoles were unprecedented, giving the idea that the demand outweighed their supply.

Sony is asking customers who intend to buy the PS5 to keep in touch with their local retailers as it promises more consoles.
