The only way to keep up with your preferred weight is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. We’ve curated a few tips that can help.

Don’t skip breakfast

You’ve probably heard this several times, but skipping breakfast is counterproductive to your weight loss goals. Breakfast kickstart your metabolism for the day. Skipping breakfast would make you overeat when hunger comes knocking. Also, eating a highly proteinous breakfast will leave you feeling fuller and accelerate your metabolism.

Exercise enough weekly

It’s also not a great idea to stop exercising entirely. Your body needs exercise to speed up metabolism and burn calories. Physiologists have recommended at least three sets of 20 minutes of aerobic exercise per week to maintain a certain weight. For weight loss, a minimum of three slots of aerobic exercise is advisable.

Away with the fizzy drinks

If you ask people who have been able to maintain being skinny, they’ll probably tell you to they stay off sugary drinks. Substitute fizzy drinks for water or infuse your water with fruits like lemon, apples or cucumbers to make it interesting.

Identify your triggers

Studies have shown that food intake can sometimes be triggered by certain activities. Being aware of habits that cause you to eat unhealthily — like binge-watching shows at night — is very key in maintaining your weight loss journey.

Go to bed on time

Having a consistent early bedtime will go a long way in helping you keep weight gain at bay. Good sleep is important in reducing stress, keeping your metabolism high, and maintaining overall good health. On the other hand, poor sleep has been linked to increased stress levels and weight gain.

Know that other factors are involved

It’s normal to get frustrated after unsuccessfully trying to lose weight. However, this may be hindered by other factors that you’ve no control over. These include fluid retention, contraceptive pills, under-active thyroid, age, or some other health conditions.

Speak to a health professional if nothing seems to be working so you can receive clarity for better results.
