A federal court on Tuesday 18th charged Lil Wayne with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon. The 38-year-old rapper is facing 10 years in prison for the offence if convicted.
Documents filed in the Southern District of Florida Court alleges that he had a gun with him on his private plane in December 2019.
Lil Wayne had pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a weapon in 2007. This was after a gun found on his tour bus in Manhattan. He served eight months of a one-year sentence at Rikers Island jail.
Authorities also reported finding bullets, cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, heroin, pain killers, and prescription-strength cough syrup, along with $25,938 in cash, though Lil Wayne has not been charged with any drug-related offence.

Howard Srebnick, a lawyer for Lil Wayne, acknowledged in a recent statement that the rapper was charged with possession of a gold-plated handgun. He, however, raised questions about the Second Amendment rights of felons.
“There is no allegation that he ever fired it, brandished it, used it or threatened to use it,”. There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person. The charge is that because he was convicted of a felony in the past, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.” Howard Srebnick said in the statement.
