Qualcomm’s Aptx Lossless Audio Is Heading To Wireless Headphones

Qualcomm’s Aptx lossless Audio Goodness will soon be available for wireless Headphones. This technology is already available for wired headphones delivers and utilizes premium quality streaming.

The major player offering Lossless streaming is Apple and Amazon to some extent. But the challenge has been how to fully stream all that goodness over wireless connection headphones.

Qualcomm’s aptx Lossless might just be the solution, the company says it would be to stream CD-quality, 16-bit / 44.1KHz lossless audio wirelessly over Bluetooth. This new technology ships on headphones and other devices starting next year.

“At Qualcomm Technologies we’re excited about the future of sound, and we’re continually looking for ways to help our customers deliver new and exciting listening experiences,” said James Chapman, Vice president and general manager, Qualcomm Technologies International.

“Lossless audio means mathematically bit-for-bit exact, with no loss of the audio file and up to now the necessary bit rate to deliver this over Bluetooth has not been available. ”

“With many leading music streaming services now offering extensive lossless music libraries, and consumer demand for lossless audio growing, we’re pleased to announce this new support for CD lossless audio streaming for Bluetooth earbuds and headsets which we plan to make available to customers later this year,”

All of Qualcomm’s phones have aptX Adaptive sound listening. Sony was once the king of lossless streaming with its LDAC technology. But Qualcomm’s aptX Lossless has more bandwidth, hitting up to 1Mbps in comparison to LDAC’s 990kbps.

Bluetooth Audio Is About To Get A Major Upgrade Thanks To New Snapdragon Sound Technology

This is made possible by its Snapdragon Sound Program, James Chapman, believe it will achieve “high-resolution, wired quality audio, wirelessly,”

So you need to have two things going on, firstly, Qualcomm’s technology supporting both headphones and smartphone hardware. And secondly, Lossless streaming services like Apple Music and Amazon Music.
