The new CEO of Qualcomm, Cristiano Amon predicts Qualcomm can produce the best laptop chip in the future. Qualcomm’s recent $1.4 billion purchase of Processor startup Nuvia, is a path the chip company has followed in order to produce its own laptop chips.

The company also looks to leverage on the executives that have worked previously at Apple.

Despite creating mobile android based chips, Qualcomm used to license these chips from ARM.  It now designs its own mobile chips.

Company CEO, Cristiano Amon also mentioned they are open to collaboration in a bid to produce the best laptop chips in the market, dethroning Apple in the process.

He said, “If ARM, which we’ve had a relationship with for years, eventually develops a CPU that’s better than what we can build ourselves, then we always have the option to license from ARM”.

Qualcomm has made bold moves to back up its claims and they are open to collaborations in order to make things fall in place.

Apple has once again made itself the industry standard when it comes to designs and efficiency, the M1 chips have seen intense rivalry not only from Qualcomm but also from Intel.
