Covid-19: Nigeria’s Cases Climb to 97 as Kaduna Gov/ Immigration Boss Test Positive

To the growing alarm of all, cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria continue to rise. Although this climb of cases is expected as more people get tested, the numbers are not in the least comforting for Nigerians.

 

Yesterday, the NCDC confirmed fresh cases bringing the number of confirmed cases to 97, three numbers shy of 100.

See statement below:

“Eight new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 2 in FCT, 4 in Oyo, 1 in Kaduna and 1 in Osun State
The statement also gave a total breakdown of cases in country
As at 10:40 pm 28th March there are 97 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 1 death. As at 10:40 pm 28th March, there are 97 confirmed cases 1 death

Governor El Rufai / Immigration Boss test positive

The Governor Kaduna State, Nasir El Rufai has tested positive to Coronavirus. In a statement and accompanying video, the  governor office broke the news via his official Twitter page.

The statement read:

“KADUNA UPDATE: Gov Nasir @elrufai has disclosed that he has tested positive for Covid-19. He is in self-isolation as required by the case management guidelines of the NCDC for a person that is not showing symptoms.”

 

Also, Nigerian Immigration Service boss, Muhammed Babandede today, Sunday announced he has tested positive for the new coronavirus, joining the burgeoning list of high-profile Nigerians who have tested positive for the virus.

Today, I tested positive for COVID-19. I have been on self-isolation since my return from UK on Sunday 22nd of this month with British Airways in Lagos,” Babandede said in a WhatsApp message

 

Globally, Coronavirus death cases have risen to 30,000 with more than 10,000 from Italy; Europe worst hit country.
