Miss Jamaica Wins Miss World 2019, Miss Nigeria Celebrates Excitedly

Miss Jamaica, Toni-Ann Singh, has won the 2019 Miss World title. Singh impressed the judges at the event in Excel, London after singing Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” and answering a variety of questions.

 

She said:
This feels like a dream, I’m so grateful. Whatever it is you see in me, thank you. I’m ready to get to work.”

 

She beat 111 other contestants representing different countries, to be the fourth Jamaican winner of the title since the competition began.

 

When asked by judge Piers Morgan if she would consider a singing career, she said: “If the door is open I’ll walk through it.”

The top five contestants who faced Piers Morgan were Miss Nigeria, Onyekachi Douglas; Miss Jamaica, Toni-Ann Singh; then Miss Brazil, Elis Coelho; Miss India, Suman Ratan Singh Rao; and Miss France, Ophely Mezin.

One moment that caught people’s attention online was Miss Nigeria’s reaction to Toni-Ann Singh win. Nyekachi, as she calls herself, who came in fifth place, jumped and screamed with joy when the winner was announced.

The amazing MBGN World, Nyekachi Douglas, has definitely put Nigeria back on the Miss World radar, with her overall composure and back-to-back wins at the just concluded Miss World 2019, and we couldn’t be more proud of her.

 

The 21-year-old Nyekachi made Nigeria proud by surmounting all odds and making it to the top five overall out of 111 contestants, and she was also named Miss World Africa.
