Microsoft has now updated its unified Office mobile app to version 2.46 to support Apple’s iPad devices. The updated Office app combines Word, Excel, and PowerPoint into a single application.

The app originally launched for iOS and Android in 2019, however, it always ran in a windowed mode instead of a fully optimized iPad app. The update makes a full iPadOS app in its own right.

“Office is now available on iPad: We’re combining the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps you know into a single, iPadOS-optimized app. Plus, you’ll see additional tools to keep you more productive than ever. For example, you’ll be able to quickly create and sign PDFs, and transform pictures into documents,” Microsoft announced.

The Office app also has access to all of the regular tablet variants of Microsoft’s productivity suite. It also is more mobile, with useful tools designed primarily for mobile tasks. This means that users now have the ability to quickly create PDFs or sign documents. They can now also convert images to text and tables, and perform more quick actions.

Office for ‌iPad‌ is free for owners iPad Air, ‌iPad‌, and iPad mini users, however, you’d need a Microsoft 365 subscription to enjoy all its features. For iPad Pro users, a paid subscription is required to even edit or create documents.
