BBNaija housemates and lovebirds, Mercy and Ike, had a heated argument that left fans unsettled. Following the Saturday house party, the couple threw hurtful words around during the big fight that took place after the Saturday night party.
Prior to the fight, the housemates were having a peaceful discussion about other housemates. They talked about Diane, who was up for eviction and her love interest, Elozonam, who did not save her.
They were giving us relationship goals, sitting and talking in the lounge area. Mercy opened up about how she felt the both of them were from different worlds and how she struggled a lot to get to where she was.
She told Ike he was from “pizza and sushi” and could not possibly understand what she has been through. Ike, on the other hand, said it did not matter because he loved her and believed their relationship could work.
Mercy, who was also up for possible eviction, began to express her anxiety and fear of being evicted. Ike promised to walk out with her if she got evicted. He also promised to split the N60m with Mercy if he won.
Soon after, Elo and Diane joined the discussion and Ike began to contradict what he said earlier. He said the BBNaija House was every man for himself and only one person could win the money.
It seemed to have ticked something off in Mercy’s head.
Alcohol also seems to have been a factor because an argument ensued. Mercy apparently did not like the hypothetical situations Ike was coming up with concerning her eviction and how he seemed only to care about the money. She began to raise her voice.
The argument quickly escalated, and the lovebirds began to throw jabs at each other. In the middle of the fight, Mercy told Ike that he came to the show after he had failed in America and ought to be worried about eviction like she was.
Mercy also told Ike it was a mistake to have loved him and later threw a plastic bottle at him. Housemates Diane and Elo tried to settle the argument.
She said,
“You will never win so long as I am in this house. Except I leave before you win. You couldn’t make it in America, you think you will make it in Nigeria? Fool! You want me to leave because I am your biggest threat!”
Diane and Elo tried to neutralise the situation. Diane eventually convinced Mercy that she had overreacted.
Ike remained calm for the most part of the fight and reassured her of his commitment after her anger had fizzled down. He pleaded with her to give him the chance to show his love and commitment, saying, “Give me a chance. I want to love you forever.” The lovebirds eventually settled their differences and were seen cuddling late in the night.
This incident earned Mercy a strike from Big Brother for provocation and violence. Her fears proved to be unfounded because of all the housemates nominated for eviction, she had the highest number of votes.
