Kemi “Lala” Akindoju To Star In Soon-come Walt Disney Film “Rise”

Nigerian actress and producer Kemi “Lala” Akindoju has annouced she will be making an international appearance in an incoming Walt Disney film.

Akindoju in an Instagram post announced that she alongside veteran actress Joke Silva has joined the cast of the Hollywood film “Rise”, which is centered on the story of Nigerian-Greecian NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“RISE, @disneyplus Original movie based on the real-life experiences of Milwaukee Bucks Star, Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family will Debut in 2022.

“Rise” the biopic directed by Nigeria’s Akin Omotoso will take on Antetokounmpo’s life and his family as undocumented immigrants in Greece who lifted themselves out of poverty.

Antetokounmpo is a Greek Basketball player born to Nigerian parents. He got drafted to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2013 and has since become one of the most phenomenal players in the league.

“Rise’ will feature brothers Uche and Ral Agada as young Giannis and Thanasis. Other cast members include Jaden Osimuwa, Elijah Shomanke, Dayo Okeniyi, Yetide Badaki, Vera Manish Dayal. Taylor Nichols, Maximiliano Hernandez, Eddie Cahill, Pilar Holland, McColm Kona Cephas Jr are also part of the cast.

The film is due to premiere on Disney+ at an undisclosed date in 2022.
