Governor Wike Places ₦30 Million Bounty For Bobrisky’s Arrest, Bobrisky Reacts

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared a notorious criminal known as Bobrisky wanted. Wike also placed a ₦30 million bounty on his head. He urged anyone who has information about Bobrisky that could lead to his arrest to come forward with such information.

Wike called for information about the killers responsible for the death of a state Director during the Choba community crisis. The governor regretted that cultists had taken over youth groups across the state, necessitating the state government to proscribe all youth groups.

The announcement of this bounty by Wike raised a lot of confusion because of the controversy surrounding the internet sensation and ‘social media Barbie’, Bobrisky.

The Bobrisky the governor referred to has been revealed to be a cultist from Gokana Local Government in Rivers State. It is highly unlikely the transgender public figure has ever visited Gokana.

The reason as to why the cultist or cultist group would name themselves after Bobrisky is currently unknown. However, the real Bobrisky reacted to the news stating that she is definitely not the one being targeted.

She said in a now-deleted post:

“Haaaaaaaaaa so a notorious CRIMINAL in River state is bearing my stage name BOBRISKY. Thank God say I don turn woman before the useless criminal go commit. If not I for don turn suspect by now. And y are bloggers joining my pic with governor Nyesom Wike together. Biko is not my Bobrisky he is looking for o. Me I don turn woman since two yrs now.”

Bobrisky distanced herself from the matter. Additionally, she made known her annoyance at bloggers who kept tagging her on news of the bounty placed on the head of her cultist namesake. She also expressed joy about transitioning into a woman two years ago.

A first glance at this would spark a lot of rage and rumours, seeing as Nigeria is a homophobic and transphobic country. But we are glad that it is not the case today.
