Google Drive is getting copy and paste keyboard shortcut

Google has announced that it is rolling out the cut, copy and paste shortcut for files in Drive. The catch is that it will only work for Chrome users, at least for now. Regardless of whether you are a Google Workspace customer or a user with personal Google Account, you can use the shortcuts.

While it is surprising that this feature is just coming to Google Drive as the shortcut has been around for decades, its use is quite expansive as you will see. It is still the same Control / Command + X, C, and V keyboard shortcut. Although, Google has made the announcement, the feature is still very limited at this time and the search company has said that the roll out will be complete by June 4.

Additionally, the shortcut Control / Command + Enter will allow you open Google Drive files in a new folder now. Why is this vital? Well, it lets you view multiple files at once.

In a blog post on its Google Workplace Updates page, you can also copy one or more files and move them across tabs (not just to new locations in Drive). When you paste copied file in a document or an email, the link to the file and its title will appear as well.

Another cool shortcut to Google Drive is the Ctrl + Shift + V feature after copying. This will make it easier to organise files in multiple locations without creating duplicates by creating shortcuts instead.
