Federal Government Congratulates Burna Boy & Wizkid Over Grammy Awards
The federal government has congratulated Nigerian afrobeats superstars Burna Boy and Wizkid, for their win at the 2021 Grammys.
Both singers clinched their first-ever Grammys after winning their respective categories. The 63rd Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles on Sunday 14th March.
These wins have generated lots of celebration on social media with their fans posting their congratulatory messages to the artistes.
“Brown Skin Girl” which Beyonce featured Wizkid won the award for Best Music Video. This will mark the first Grammy for Wizkid.
Burna also emerged winner of the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category for ‘Twice As Tall’, his 2020 project.
In a statement on Monday, Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, described the development as fitting rewards for the persistent hard work of the two music stars.

Segun Adeyemi, his media aide, said the awards also represented a global endorsement for the Afrobeat genre of music that has propelled Nigeria’s increasing dominance of the music world.
Mohammed expressed optimism that winning the much-coveted awards would inspire the two singers to more career strides.
The minister added that he hopes the musicians’ achievements would also serve as a source of inspiration for other Nigerians to believe in their dreams.
