Burna Boy Reacts To Big Wins At The 2019 Future Awards Africa

.Yesterday was the Future Awards Africa and Burna Boy won big at the event, carting away two awards.

 

The event took place at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel Lagos.

 

Founders of the award ceremony Debola Williams and Chude Jideonwo revealed the aim of the event. They said it was initiated to celebrate young people between the ages of 18 and 31, because of their outstanding achievement in the year under consideration.

 

Burna Boy won the Future Africa Awards 2019 Prize for Music and Young Person of the year awards.

The man of the moment Burna has reacted to the award. He thanked the ceremony’s organisers on Twitter.

Burna Boy rose in 2012 after releasing the lead single “Like to party” from his debut studio album, L.I.F.E (2013).

 

In 2019, he won the Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards. And Apple Music announced him as their Up Next artist.

 

He released his fourth studio album African Giant in July 2019. He also won four awards at the Sound City MVP Awards Festival. This includes African Artiste of the year, Listener’s Choice and Best Male MVP.

 

In March 2019, Burna Boy released a four-track collaborative EP WITH Los Angeles based electronic duo DJDS titled “steel and copper”.

 

The Grammys nominated Burna Boy for the 2019 awards slated for January 2020. The Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 62nd edition on 20th November 2019.

His album “African Giant” got a nomination for the Best World Music Album category. He was nominated in this category alongside Altin Gün for “Gece”, Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley for “What Heat”, Nathalie Joachim With Spektral Quartet for “Fanm D’Ayiti”, and Angelique Kidjo for “Celia”.

 

Burna Boy early this month became the first African artiste to sell out Wembley Arena in London. The event, at the SSE Arena, Wembley in London, was another leg of the multi-city “African Giant Tour”.

 

The management of the venue gave Burna Boy a plaque in recognition of his feat. And on the same night, he also won the “Best African Act’ award at the star-studded 2019 MTV EMA held in Seville, Spain.

 

Congratulations to Burna Boy for bagging these plagues at the Future awards. He sure deserves them, and we also can’t wait to see him bring back the Grammy’s.
