Actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, previously diagnosed of coronavirus, have been discharged from the hospital. They continue their journey to recovery in self isolation. Finally, some good news!
Chet Hanks, their youngest son made a video message on Instagram about his parents’ release from the hospital. He assured fans that their health had improved.
“They are still self-quarantined obviously, but they are feeling a lot better so that’s a relief,” Chet said in the video post.
“I just want to say, anyone else out there that has loved ones, or if you yourself are inflicted with the virus, my prayers go out to you, because a lot of people are suffering other than my parents right now. I just wish everyone a swift and speedy recovery.”
Hanks and Wilson had fallen ill and tested positive for the coronavirus in Australia a week ago. They’d arrived in the country to shoot an Elvis Presley biopic for Barz Lurhmann.

Hanks plays Presley’s manager, Colonel Tome Parker. Warner Bros has however suspended the film indefinitely. It was previously slated for release in October, 2021.
Hanks issued a statement saying he and Wilson had gone to hospital after feeling run down. He said they would comply with all Australian health restrictions relating to the virus.
The actor’s news of recovery comes as great relief to fans and well wishers. This is because they were both considered high-risk patients. They’re over the age of 60 and have other underlining health conditions.
Australia currently has 452 confirmed cases of the virus and 5 deaths. This brings the total number of cases worldwide to 199,264 and 7,994 deaths.
