Wizkid’s “Essence” a hit song off his “Made In Lagos” has become the most searched song on Shazam in the US.
Shazam is a popular music app that helps users to identify the name and title of a song. The platform also provides details such as the artist’s name and title of the particular song playing at the time.
In a post on its Instagram page on Monday 30th August 2021, the music application said the mid-tempo track has become the most “Shazamed” song in the US.
“Big congrats to Wizkid! Essence is now the most shazamed song in the United States,” it wrote.

The track has so far enjoyed widespread acceptance from music lovers and also became the first Nigerian song to crack the Billboard chart.
After four weeks, “Essence” would record another leap, climbing by 23 spots on the Hot 100 to achieve 59th place.
Following a surprise remix with Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, the hit track climbed to 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Barack Obama, the former president of the United States, had listed the hit song among his favourites for 2020.
