Just a week ago, Disney announced that Beyoncé had curated and produced an album “The Lion King: The Gift”. The album is set for release on the same date “The Lion King” hits cinemas – July 19th.

Disney also hinted the album will feature global recording artists and will be “steeped in the sounds of Africa”. The recently-released tracklist revealed some sizzling information. The American Pop Queen, Beyoncé, features some top guns in Africa on the album.

While the 14-song album will include several original Beyoncé tracks, it will also feature collaborations with African acts. Majority of the acts are Nigerian artistes such as Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Tekno, Yemi Alade and Mr Eazi. It includes South Africa’s Moonchild Sanelly, Busiswa, and Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale.

Also featured in the “Lion King” album are American music heads, JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino and Pharrell. That’s not all as Blue Ivy will also be featured.

Speaking with ABC, Beyoncé said:

“The soundtrack is a love letter to Africa. I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa. Not just use some of the sounds and do my interpretation of it. I wanted it to be authentic about what is beautiful about the music in Africa.”
